Oh, it’s a happy day when I walk into the kitchen and find my son, fresh off the plane from the other side of the world, making his breakfast. (Never mind his “I’ll humor you, Mom,” smile. He’s very sweet)
We’re gearing up for our annual Epic Warren Vacation so I’m working a light week this week…and thus starts a 2 part series (maybe more!) called What Susie May Learned While Doing Research.
Happy Friday. Okay, let’s just say it out loud, and get it out of the way. There was no newsletter on Tuesday.
But in my defense, I was in my chair, on a ranch in Colorado, with a couple of fools who needed to fall in love and rescue the family ranch…and with trouble bearing down,
Yay! It’s Friday! Let’s have some fun.
I’m throwing a steak on the grill, roasting sweet potatoes and tossing up a nummy Caesar salad tonight. Because, well, I wrote 40K words this week. And my brain is mush.
But admittedly, it’s been a fun week of diving into a new series,
So, I gave in.
To be clear, my husband is a generous, sweet, kind man who hands over the remote control to me whenever we watch television. I mean, without a doubt, I am the Supreme Ruler of the Remote Control. And we often watch what I call “compromise” tv shows. Like, for example,
It all started with a dare.
We were staying at a Hilton in Florida for my birthday getaway. (this was before we lived in Florida) and the pool director announced a “beginners scuba diving” experience in the pool.
The 5 foot deep pool.
Hubs said… “You’ve always wanted to see if you could do this…now’s your chance.”
I said.
I woke up to these lovelies this morning…
I usually kill flowers (hence why my house is full of fake flowers. Seriously. It’s okay to judge me. I’ve lived with this situation for a while now.)
These seem impervious to my neglect.
So, we did a thing. After we got our porch cleaned up we looked at it and said…we’re missing something…what is it?

This is a quick note today because, well, are we sure it’s not Monday?
I was in Menards yesterday buying lilacs and my brain actually said…oh great, I’ll have tomorrow afternoon to plant them because TODAY IS SATURDAY.
Apparently not. I got the lilacs planted,

I dunno about you, but I’m looking forward to a nice looong Memorial Day weekend…
Full of yard work, and painting and maybe, if I’m lucky, steaks on the grill.
But I deserve it because I’ve been wildly busy since returning to Minnesota, starting with spending most of last week at a publisher’s conference.

Last time we chatted, I was packing to drive home to MN.
My dog was freaking out about us leaving him behind. He grabbed his leash and followed us around the house. What a silly.
But sweet.
