So I spent the weekend on my knees. And no, not in prayer—though there was some of that, too, mostly in the form of “Lord, please let this grout line be straight.”
We finally finished the bathroom floor. FINISHED. As in, hexagonal tile laid, grouted, and looking like something out of a home magazine (if that magazine also featured a middle-aged woman groaning every time she stood up). My body is wrecked. My knees are staging a revolt. My back has filed a formal complaint. But you know what? That floor is gorgeous, and every time I walk into that bathroom, I feel like a warrior queen surveying her conquered kingdom.
Worth it? Absolutely. Can I move? Barely.

(By the way, in case you’re confused, that is NOT a picture of me, but rather my fabulous hubby fixing the tile)
So naturally, the best recovery plan is a good book and a heating pad. And I happen to have the perfect book recommendation.
So you know how I borrowed my friend Rachel Hauck’s fictional country of Lauchtenland for Creed? And how my villain Alan Martin waltzed in there and tried to take out the KING? (Still not sorry, Rachel.)
Well, Rachel just released a brand-new book set in Lauchtenland, and it’s the one we’ve all been waiting for—Scottie’s story.
To Win a Crown is a sweeping royal romance filled with intrigue, hidden truths, bodyguard romance, and the kind of slow-burn tension that had me turning pages way past my bedtime.

Nobody writes royal romance like Rachel. She’s a New York Times bestselling author, one of my dearest friends, and if you love my books, you will love hers. Go grab it!
And then stay tuned—because the hunt for villainous Alan Martin launches on FRIDAY!

Here’s a little about the book: Selah Silver is done being the girl who needs rescuing. After an explosive breakup with former Navy SEAL North Gunderson, all she wants is peace—far from him and the chaos that follows. But when her train derails in the Cascade Mountains, she finds herself on the run with a mysterious stranger, a deadly bioweapon, and a target on her back.
North knows he messed up. But when Selah goes off-grid with a suspected terrorist and a canister that could kill thousands? He’s coming for her. Even if she hates him. Even if it costs him everything.
And when Alan Martin discovers Selah’s connection to the legendary York Newgate, she becomes the perfect pawn in a vendetta decades in the making.
This is Book One. The hunt starts here. And it won’t end until Alan Martin is stopped—for good.
Grab it now on the Susan May Warren Store, your favorite retailer, or on Amazon this Friday!
In other news, it’s been a rainy week here, which honestly feels like permission (along with my aching bones) to curl up with a blanket and read. But tonight we get to babysit the grandkids, which means the blanket will be part of rocking my sweet 4 month old grand-girl, and the quiet will be replaced by motorized sounds by my grandson. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Thank you for reading!
