What we learn…

Rel Mollet Books, Family

Oh, it’s a happy day when I walk into the kitchen and find my son, fresh off the plane from the other side of the world, making his breakfast. 😊 (Never mind his “I’ll humor you, Mom,” smile. He’s very sweet)

We’re gearing up for our annual Epic Warren Vacation so I’m working a light week this week…and thus starts a 2 part series (maybe more!) called What Susie May Learned While Doing Research.

So, I often go to YouTube and watch “setting” videos—e.g., “Hey, I’m writing a story set in Key West. Let’s take a walk around the wharf.” And of course Mr. YouTube dishes me up a number of interesting videos.

BUT – on the side are tantalizing little morsels of “shorts” – you know, those 30 second attention bombs that suck you in with dopamine hits and endless scrolling? Dangerous stuff. A little like chocolate chips.

However, sometimes I find something good. Something that intrigues me…

Such an interesting concept…but true! And I immediately started using this idea in my current novel. But it got me thinking…

What learned “failures” have I believed and incorporated into my life? When I started making the list (I’m not going to tell you how long it is…but seriously, why had I never thought of this before?) it was eye-opening.

I can relearn. I don’t have to obey the lies.

Anyway, I thought it was worth sharing. 😊

I’m packing up my TBR pile and on the very top is book #3 in the Chasing Fire: Alaska series – Burning Escape. If you haven’t started this series yet, it’s SO MUCH FUN and fast-paced. And my book is up next! It’s available right now on all retailers but Amazon.

If you enjoyed Chasing Fire: Montana, or my Alaska Air One Rescue series, you’ll see some familiar faces. 😊 (Oh, and did you know you can get the box sets of the complete Montana Fire series on Kindle Unlimited?)

Okay, I’m off to drink coffee with my handsome son.

Have a beautiful Tuesday! And thank you for reading!
