So, there was this bunny…

Rel Mollet Books, Family, Food and Drink, Good Stuff

We returned home from our epic five day drive from Florida yesterday. Twenty-six hours. TWENTY audio book chapters of Brandon Sanderson’s Oathbringers. 4 nutty bars, a bag of Cheetos and McDonalds… (I don’t know why I eat like a teenager when I travel. It’s like a Pavlovian response. I get in the car and think…road trip! Bring on the tunes and junk food!)

We arrived home to a JUNGLE. (Our lawn guy decided to simply Not Show Up. Which had the police doing drive-bys, fearing the house had been abandoned.)

No, it wasn’t quite this bad. But you get the picture.

We immediately set out to weeding the garden. And mowing the lawn.

And that’s how it happened.

I was moving a drain pipe to get some weeds and out ran a baby bunny.

Cute. Sweet. Small.

And my big dogs said….SNAAAAACK!

NOOOO! I took off running for the bunny, trying to intercept the dogs, and while I did manage to slow them down, I stepped into a mammoth hole in our lawn (again, DOGS!) and BAM! I went down like a running back for the Vikings. My knee screamed in pain, (and me too) and that alerted my dogs to my Great Torment…

And allowed the bunny, who was trapped, to be rescued.

But I spent the rest of the sleepless night here. With ice. And pain.

The GOOD news is that it was JUST IN TIME to read Sticks and Stone, book 3 of the True Lies of Rembrandt Stone series! It dropped into my kindle at midnight…and I was finished by morning.

I loooove this story about friendship and true love and tracking down a couple of lost kids in the face of a Minnesota winter. David (our cowriter) says it was “just the right amount of romantic” – which I think says a lot for a guy. I’m loving the reviews for the series, too!

And, right now, it’s STILL at it’s $3.99 preorder/launch price. I think it’s good until midnight….

😊

Just in case you save a bunny and need something to read.
