Hang on, it’ll be okay…

Rel Mollet Books, Family

So, there I was, having my morning quiet time when This Happened.

That’s Jubal, my 100 pound lap dog, cuddling up with me because there are Thunderstorms Over Head.

He’s such a big chicken. But I get it—when you’re afraid, it helps to cuddle up with someone to endure it together, right? And maybe, they’ll help you see a bigger perspective (aka, Jubal, it’s just rain. It’s okay, you’re safe. It’ll be over soon…)

That was the premise of Burning Secrets, the middle book in the epic Chasing Fire: Alaska series that came out last week. I love this story of this brave hero stuck in the middle of darkness, trying to find justice…and the woman who walks into his path…

Wrong place, wrong time…

Wildlife biologist JoJo Butcher isn’t just a smokejumper for the Midnight Sun crew—she’s also in Alaska to finish up her wolf research…until, oops, she finds herself face-to-face with a wolf with nowhere to go…
And then she’s rescued by a hero from the woods. Who exactly is he, and what secrets is he hiding?

He’s living a double life…

Undercover FBI informant Michael Crew Sterling hates his life. Buried deep inside a domestic terrorist group, he’s in over his head, trying to discover their lethal plans. And then he saves the life of JoJo Butcher, and suddenly she is sunshine to his dark soul…

Until she accidentally walks into nightmare.

Now Crew must keep her alive by proving that she’s his girlfriend. And she has to play along, or they’ll both be killed. And when they discover what the group is really doing, Crew will have to make a choice that could cost him everything he’s sacrificed to save the woman he’s falling for.

Book four in the epic Chasing Fire: Alaska series is an edge-of-your seat tale of danger, loyalty, and the power of hope in the darkest night. Get it now, at Amazon (also in Kindle Unlimited.)

I received a number of sweet notes after last Friday’s email (thank you!) about suffering. And how to hang on when we feel in over our heads.

Ironically, this weeks sermon was about feeling overwhelmed (it’s as if God read my newsletter. 😊) Actually about John the Baptist, sitting in prison, wondering if Jesus was really the Messiah. (Matthew 11:1-6). Such a reminder that even people of great faith can sometimes doubt in the middle of their darkest moment.

Jesus replied with three answers: Remember who I am. (What he’s done.) Remember my purpose. (Why he came). And Remember the Promise. (Blessed is he who is not offended by me). And then the pastor said… Preach Truth to yourself.

Wow, that hit me. Preach that to yourself. Remind yourself of the Truth. Speak that truth aloud.

That’s why I write inspirational fiction. Because sometimes, we forget to speak the truth to ourselves. We need to see it in others, living out their journey. And yes, I know it’s *fiction* but if I do my job right, the story feels real. And the characters are friends we can relate to.

And the truth they learn can become the truth we need to remind ourselves of.

Anyway, that’s where I’m at while I hold my trembling pup. Hang in there…the storm will eventually subside. And there will be blue skies.

I’m headed to a reader retreat this weekend. Honestly, I don’t do these very often, but this is hosted by my good friend and author Gabrielle Meyer and she always puts on a great retreat! I can’t wait to hang out with readers (some of my favorite people!)
