Crazy Making!

Susan Just for Fun

I really don’t try to drive my daughter crazy. I promise I don’t. But from our conversation this morning as she left the house, (into 20 degree weather with a wet, uncombed, freshly showered head), one would think I’m trying to drive her insane.

“Sarah, did you forget to comb your hair?” I say as I see her mop dripping onto her coat.

“No, I like it this way.”

“But it will dry in a tangle.”

“Mom!”

“And your head is wet. It’s cold out. You need a hat.” This is where I help, by picking up a hat and offering it to her.

“Mom! That’s an ugly hat!” She whips it from my hands. Never mind that is the hat I got her for Christmas last year. She picks up another hat. A truly ugly hat. Shoves it on her head while she sends me a look that oh-so-clearly defines how she feels about that.
