Hi! My name’s Susie May and I’m trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I’ve written over 75 novels. As I penned my first novel while I was a missionary in Russia with four littles, I never imagined how my writing life would unfold. I love writing epic romantic adventures, and chasing my adventures like sky-diving and scuba-diving…maybe I just like diving! You can learn more about me and all my books here on my site and on BookBub,Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

My newest release is, not surprisingly, an epic romantic adventure —THE WAY OF THE BRAVE. Take a look:

Former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is haunted by the memory of a rescue gone wrong. He may be living alone in Alaska now, but the pain of his failure–and his injuries–has followed him there from Afghanistan. He has no desire to join Hamilton Jones’s elite rescue team, but he also can’t shirk his duty when the call comes in to rescue three lost climbers on Denali.

Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun’s yearly extreme challenge with her best friends is her only escape from the guilt that has sunk its claws into her. As a consultant during a top-secret mission to root out the Taliban, she green-lighted an operation that ended in ambush and lives lost. When her cathartic climb on Denali turns deadly, she’ll be forced to trust her life and the lives of her friends to the most dangerous of heroes–the man she nearly killed.

Her skills and his experience are exactly what’s needed to prevent another tragedy–but in order to truly set Orion free from his painful past, Jenny will have to reveal hers. They’ll have to put their wounds behind them to survive, but at what cost?

I love stories about heroes and heroines fighting the odds to survive and save others. Having loved hanging out with the PEAK team of the Montana Rescue series, I thought…what if we went bigger.

Like climbed a mountain.

And survived a hurricane.

And went to…Europe?

And my character, Ham, (who I met in Pete’s story, Wait for Me, in book #6 of the Montana Rescue series) had a team he wanted to put together. People he wanted to save.

A woman he needed to fall in love with.

(Well, okay, Ham, when you put it that way…) Enter Jones, Inc., and the heroes and heroines of the Global SAR series!

These stories have higher stakes, global settings and all the heroes are ex-military who put their lives on the line, regardless of the cost. These stories are faster paced, with more dire situations, and a global threat that is threaded through the trilogy. And, they ALL come out in 2020! I can’t wait for my readers to meet Orion, Ham and Jake, so here’s an introduction to my heroes!

Orion Starr

The way the heroine describes him…

Because Orion Starr was still painfully, darkly handsome, dark brown hair the color of rich coffee, mountain-green eyes that held a well of memories, and devastatingly well built with the kind of burly shoulders that suggested a lot of outdoor wood-chopping, shoveling and yes, probably some mountain rescue work..

Resembles…

Can’t live without…Jenni.  😊  But also, he’s a rescuer and loves to challenge himself…so he can’t live with knowing there is someone who needs his help and not going to her rescue.

Strengths: Focused. Determined. Sacrificial.

Vulnerabilities: Has a knee replacement, PTSD and dark memories of the mountain taking lives. Lives in Alaska.

Passions: Climbing. His need to find out what happened to Navy SEAL Royal Benjamin.

Orion’s best book recommendation: The Last of the Breed…Louis L’Amour

Meet Orion in…Readers first meet Orion in Some Like it Hot (Summer of the Burning Sky), he is the hero in The Way of the Brave, and features in the remaining Global Search and Rescue series.

Jake Silver

How the Heroine describes him:

Dark blond hair that twined out under his wool cap, the hint of golden brown whiskers, pale blue eyes, thick shoulders and a grin that did dangerous things to her heart.

Resembles… Ryan McPartlin

Can’t live without…Aria Sinclair. And his family. And joking. And having fun…

Strengths: He is selfless, and very, very loyal.

Vulnerabilities: He doesn’t know when to quit…

Passions: Sailing, waterskiing, and diving.

Jake’s favorite movie: Die Hard

Meet Jake in…Jake first appears in The Way of the Brave, he is the hero of The Heart of a Hero and you can catch him again in my third and final Global Search and Rescue novel, The Price of Valor.

Hamilton Jones

Physical Description:

Ham sat in profile to her, wearing a pair of sunglasses, the sun beautiful in his hair, lifting golden threads from the brown. He hadn’t shaved, so a hint of dark whiskers raked his face, and he wore a pair of cargo pants, flip-flops and a button shirt. He took off his glasses. His blue eyes could still hold her captive…

Resembles…Chris Hemsworth

Can’t live without…His team. The people he loves.

Strengths: Calm. A thinker. Isn’t afraid to speak the truth.

Vulnerabilities: Someone he loves in trouble!

Passions: His Global SAR Team.

What sport does Ham love most? OH boy…football?  😊

Meet Ham in…Ham first pops up in my Montana Marshalls series when he helps Ford Marshall with a special project. His story thread weaves through The Way of the Brave and The Heart of the Hero and he takes center stage in The Price of Valor, releasing in October.
