You gotta see this…

Rel Mollet Books, Faith, Family, Movies

Hope you had a lovely weekend! I was deeply moved by some of the speeches given at the Arlington Memorial event. I’m so grateful for the sacrifice of so many to preserve our country.

We had a fun weekend. Headed over to my brother’s house for a cookout on Sunday night.

(Me and my niece Ellie with the s’more she made me!)

And on Monday, we gardened under the hot sun.

(this is my Hot Hubby sitting under a tree!)

Then, we flopped onto the sofa. (Yes, those are heating pads I got for Mother’s Day!)

Truth is, sometimes a girl just wants to eat ice cream and watch a movie or two. Or three.

Yes, yes I did. I watched three movies this weekend. And didn’t regret any of them.

I dunno about you, but I struggle, sometimes, with finding decent movies to watch. I know, I know—read a good book! You’re not wrong. But this weekend, we picked some winners.

So, here’s my Siskel and Ebert (remember them?) “You gotta see this!” movie rec’s from this weekend, in no particular order.

Solo Mio. We watched this on the Angel app, but it’s available via Amazon. A very cute movie about a guy who gets stood up on his wedding day in Italy, and goes on his honeymoon anyway. It’s sweet, and has some depth, and great music and while I have a few critiques on the romance, it’s clean and will make you smile. Starring Kevin James.

The Great Awakening. By Sight and Sound Studios. (Prime Video) Soo interesting. One thing I liked was the theme of grace, and how that is our only way to salvation. I was shocked at one of the revelations in the show, (toward the end—not gonna tell you), and dismayed at the “easy” answer George Whitfield gave to what I would consider a serious moral failure. But God used him anyway, and the theme of needing God at the helm of our lives was powerful. It’s definitely one to watch, and have some discussion afterwards.

I Can Only Imagine 2. (Also, Prime Video) Usually, I’m not a fan of sequels, but this on had Milo Ventimiglia (Hello Jess!) in it and traced the journey to Mercy Me’s second biggest hit, Even If. Milo gave a fantastic performance and while hubby kept shouting parenting advice at Bart, it was a powerful movie that had me crying and worshipping at the end. I think your soul will love it.

I’m back at work today, a little sunburned, but happily diving into my editorial pass on my newest book. In the meantime, the Alaska Air One Rescue audiobooks are still 50% off on the store.

And June is right around the corner. 😊

Be blessed this week!

P.S. One week from today, Scent of Hope drops in the Amazon store and Baker House Books!
