When you’re hanging out with all the cool guys!

Rel Mollet Books, Family

I hope you had a fantastic Labor Day weekend. I snuck away to see my daughter and her lovely family. And hung out with these two cool dudes.

This is my hubby. He cooks for us.

And this is my amazing son-in-law, Neil. Look at those dogs. They love him. I wish my characters obeyed me as well as these dogs obey Neil.

Last week I talked about how writing is like dragging an elephant down the road. I’m happy to say that he has now found his feet and is walking along nicely. I did have a small meltdown this week thinking about how much I needed to write and I was texting friends and they called me up and on the spot prayed for many words.

And then in my morning psalm, (78) I read this. He made streams pour from the rock making the waters flow down like a river. Sometimes writing can feel like I have words locked in my head like a rock. And then God opens up that rock and they flow down like a river.

And then I proceeded to write 25K in two days (that’s 100 pages). So that was a win. Today I walked outside and discovered fall was here. Huh.

Last week I mentioned how God poured the story of Creed into my heart and then on to the page. If you’d like to read the story, it releases in the Susan May Warren store on Tuesday, 9/12!

Oh, and I love this little summary of Creed:

Meet Creed Marshall, youngest child to Garrett and Jenny Marshall. Also…

💙 little brother to Fraser, Jonas, Iris, and Ned
💙 adopted son
💙 wounded hero
💙 in love with a princess
💙 questions his worth as a Marshall
💙 fascinated by YouTube
💙 loyal, brave, and determined

He’s a criminal—who must become a prince to save the princess he loves.

Releasing from the SMW Store 9/12, non-Amazon retailers 9/26, and at Amazon on 10/10. The $5.99 pre-order is available until the book releases!

Remember how last week I left my character drowning in the Cook Inlet to chat with you? He survived. Phew. But today he’s climbing Denali to save a couple of lost mountain climbers so I’d better see how he’s doing…

Oh, and here is the winner from last week’s “what are you reading” poll— Emily Bacerra! Thank you for all the great suggestions!

It’s cold out today—we’re heading to a bonfire and wine tasting with friends, and having family over this weekend.

And, did anyone say…FOOTBALL?

Have a great weekend!

P.S. Are you a serial reader? Have you ever heard of Kindle Vella? I discovered this fantastic new author, and am reading her book in bite-size pieces every Tuesday. It’s laugh-out-loud funny, and reminds me of a certain unnamed daughter I know.

*****

I wasn’t trying to write a fan-fic about my boss. Really.
Why would I? Milo is grouchy, cold, and rude. He’s the polar opposite of a bookish boyfriend—well, except for the way he leans against his office doorframe, arms folded across his chest. Or the way he almost smiles when we get into an argument. Or the way he always seems to show up when I need him… But other than that, he’s the worst.
And he would fire me in a heartbeat if he found out I was the author he’d been so determined to publish.
That’s why Milo Brooks can never find out that I’ve been here all along while he was looking for Penny Larke.
Grumpy boss meets sunshine assistant in this secret identity, slow burn, office rom-com about a pseudonym way out of control.

Read the first installment here and in the Kindle app!
