Something on my heart…

Rel Mollet Books, Current Affairs, Film

It’s the middle of July already, isn’t it? I’m going to do something unusual in this little post and that is recommend something that has impacted my life recently. I did that a few months ago with The Chosen. And today I’m doing it with the new movie The Sound of Freedom.

I went to this movie last Friday night and just can’t get it off my mind. I’ve been a long-time supporter of IJM so I’m aware of the human trafficking problem. But seeing Jim Caviezel portray this story of a man trying to help children out of human slavery really impacted me and renewed afresh in me a spirit of wanting to do something.

For those that are hesitant about seeing the movie, the movie does a great job of showing us the horror but not bringing us into the horror. We don’t actually see any children in the act of getting abused and they do a great job also with toning down some of the violence. So for those with sensitive hearts (although the movie is challenging because we’re so horrified at the truth of the situation) it’s not brutal in the actual depiction of what’s going on. In other words, yes, your heart will be broken but you won’t be offended by images you can’t get out of your head.

I so strongly believe that this is a movie that everyone needs to see that I purchased 10 tickets for you to see the movie. If you’d like to see this movie and it’s out of your budget right now, then please go to HERE and click on Claim Free Ticket.

If you stay until the end of the movie, Jim Caviezel talks about the power of storytelling. Obviously, I loved this, because I do believe that stories have the power to change lives. I was recently teaching a class on mission and vision and why we do what we do. And for me, my mission statement is to write powerful stories that entertain and encourage, speak truth and nudge people closer to the fact that God loves them.

Thank you for reading my stories! And for sharing them with others. I work very hard to entwine storytelling with inspiration and take very seriously the fact that you spend time and money reading my books and I try to make it worth both.

So that is my rather serious missive for today.☺️

I was out shopping last weekend and saw this extremely cute wall hanging. I think this is also true for anyone who loves a great story.

Have a fantastic weekend!

XO!

P.S – Iris is out in the wild! You can get Iris and Hud’s story right now in the Susan May Warren Fiction store. Or you can still preorder it from your favorite retailer, or Amazon.

PPS – Just as a caveat – I do know that the hero of the movie is Mormon. I also am aware of the criticism the media is bringing to the movie. (e.g. the Qanon accusation, or the “elevation of numbers of people caught in human trafficking”) But I bring you to Mark 9:38 – anyone who is not against us is for us. No amount of human trafficking is acceptable, and anyone who is fighting it is on the side of good, even if they believe differently than I do.
