Scoop! By Rene Gutteridge

For a brief time during college, I wanted to be a producer. A news producer. I was in school for mass communications and piled up the broadcasting classes, even doing a stint at a cable news station.

All because of Holly Hunter. Or, more specifically, Broadcast News. My favorite show for years, I loved the banter in the newsroom and the way Holly made things flow. I longed for the energy I saw in the live newscast, and spent hours debating the ethics of William Hurt’s character with my fellow producer-wanna-be’s. I wanted to live in Broadcast News.

Welcome to Scoop, Rene Gutteridge’s newest book. I love Rene’s writing – her Boo series is hilarious. I knew I’d found a favorite author when I devoured her first book, Ghost Writer. So, when I picked up Scoop, a comedy about a newsroom, I knew I was in for a treat. I didn’t realize all those feelings of energy and anticipation and laughter I felt about Broadcast News would come rushing back. Scoop is a delightful, sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant look at the inside of a newsroom, at the characters and their lives. At their triumphs and challenges. And, most of all, it’s a great look at someone living their faith out in a world where the lines are often blurred.

Get the Scoop…! *grin* (I just had to say that!)
