Curl up with hero Sam Brooks this Valentine’s Day!

What happens when the rescuer needs to be rescued?

I was chipping ice off the sidewalk when it happened–a click in the back of my neck, the a stabbing pain, followed quickly by a paralyzing ache.  I’d slipped a disk in my neck.  I dropped to my knees, crawled into the house and collapsed on the floor.  Somehow, I made it to the sofa, called the chiropractor and for the next three weeks began a regime of ice packs, pain meds and adjustments.

I couldn’t move. Which meant that everyone around me had to do the “stuff mom does.”  You know what I mean–cooking, cleaning, laundry and everything else people do at home, with implements from sites as https://ivyandwilde.com/…but also the daily car pools, the morning hustle–generally everything to keep people moving.  And, the longer I lay there, the more my incapacitates drove me crazy. I found myself getting up to help–only to re injure myself.

While I mended, I began to noodle about what might happen if a SAR Rescuer, capable, dependable, and heroic got into a position where HE needed to be rescued.

Enter Deputy Sam Brooks. He’s a member of the PEAK Rescue Team, and liaison to the Mercy Falls EMS Department. Sam is a the guy people call when they’re hurt, scared or in danger. He doesn’t use the word HELP.

He’s going to have to if he wants to save the people he loves.

Rescue Me is book #2 in the Montana Rescue series. (Read about Wild Montana Skies, book 1!) It hits the shelves January 31st!!  (Just in time for Valentine’s Day!)

*****

When Deputy Sam Brooks commits to something, nothing can sway him—not just on the job as liaison between the Mercy Falls sheriff’s department and PEAK Rescue, but in his private life. He’s the one who stuck around to take care of his mother after his father’s accidental death. And he’s the one who—perhaps the only one—who believes Sierra Rose is the perfect girl for him. Safe, practical, and organized, she’s nothing like her hippie, impulsive, bleeding heart sister, Willow.

Willow, however, has been in love with Sam Brooks for as long as she can remember.  But she wants her sister, Sierra, to have her happy ending. Besides, Willow has other things to focus on—namely, nabbing the job as youth pastor for her small town church. Best thing for her to do is to purge Sam from her heart.

Neither can predict the accident that will bring them together in a fight for their lives in the forbidding wilderness of Glacier National Park. Stranded, injured, and with the winter weather closing in, Sam and Willow will have to work together to save a crew of terrified teenagers. As they fight to survive, they might just discover a new hope for love.
