All the excitement!

Rel Mollet Books, Current Affairs

So there we were Sunday night, standing outside like the true Space Coast locals we are, watching a rocket scream across the sky.

Fun, right?

But that wasn’t even the only thing that launched on Sunday. Because earlier that day, THESE guys happened:

TEAM USA TOOK HOME THE GOLD. At the Olympics. I may have screamed at my TV more than once. (Okay, more than five times.) Jack Hughes and that whole team played with so much heart it honestly felt like reading one of our books — except with more missing teeth.

Which reminds me — my hockey player, Brody “Candy” Kane? Still has all his teeth. Every single one. And that smile? Absolutely devastating. But don’t let the pretty face fool you — he’s just as tough as Hughes. Maybe tougher. (Okay, Brody’s fictional, but a girl can dream.)

So let me get this straight. Sunday gave us Olympic gold for hockey AND a rocket launch? What could Monday possibly do to top that?

Oh, I’m glad you asked.

THE NOT SO NEUTRAL ZONE IS LIVE. Book one in the Blue Ox Boys series launched on Monday!

Timely, right? The universe clearly got the memo.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, here’s the scoop: The Not So Neutral Zone is a hockey rom-com co-written with my daughter Sarah, and it’s the first book in our Blue Ox Boys series. It’s got:

  • A grumpy hockey player with a charming smile that hides… well, everything
  • A sunshine heroine who’s tired of being everyone’s afterthought
  • A fake dating deal that was supposed to be “just business”
  • FIVE wedding events (because one was clearly not enough torture)
  • That slow-burn moment when fake starts feeling dangerously real
  • And a second chance at the love story they almost lost

Brody “Candy” Kane and Chloe Dawson were soooo fun to write (I threw in some of my love for Barcelona in there! And Sarah tapped into her Wedding Coordinator skills) and we are SO excited for you to meet them. If you love your hockey heroes guarded and grumpy with a gooey center, and your heroines warm and witty with a backbone of steel — this is your book.

Writing this with Sarah has been one of the most fun experiences of my career. We laughed, we argued (lovingly), and we created something that we’re both incredibly proud of. I think you’re going to love it.

And our prereaders were super kind too…

“This story was exactly what I needed! A hockey fake dating story with humor, faith and romance that had me flying through the pages! I really came to root for these characters and loved seeing them work through their story together. It was fun, it was heartfelt, it was a blast to read. And now I want more Blue Ox!” — Nicole, Goodreads
“If you’re looking for your next sweet hockey romance fix that features flawed characters, a team you’ll want to root for, family drama, Christian undertones, and some swoony romance, don’t look further than this one! I can’t wait for the next book in the Blue Ox series!” — Priscilla, Goodreads (5 stars!)

Thank you for reading!

XO!
