I dunno about you, but this has been my view all week.

I love the winter Olympics (probably the Minnesota gal in me). Anyone else weep when Lindsay Vonn fell on her Olympic comeback? Gotta give the girl props. I have a knee replacement, and the idea of skiing on it… yikes!
Anyhoo…thanks to Sarah who wrote last Tuesday’s letter. I’m so thrilled at the feedback on NORTH.

I was reading the book Dangerous Gentleman (Victor Marx) when I wrote North…and I worked it into the story.
A LITTLE TASTE…
I love this moment in the book. North is freezing, exhausted, and freshly showered after barely surviving the Montana wilderness to find Selah. He’s sitting at a stranger’s kitchen table, eating chili, and this old retired farmer says something that stops him cold:
“Dangerous gentlemen.”
“What?”
“Men who love compassion and mercy, but aren’t afraid to do the hard things to stand up for the lost and broken and scared.”
That’s North Gunderson in a nutshell. A pastor’s kid who became a warrior. A man trying to figure out how to do dangerous things while keeping his soul intact.
And Selah? She’s trying to figure out if she can love a man like that—and what it means that part of her already does.
By the way—if you haven’t read any of the previous Alan Martin books, THAT’S OKAY! I did a fun thin in this story knowing many readers will have not read all the previous books…you get to experience Alan’s POV from the beginning. So no need to catch up—his story is all there for you.
Just trying to help a gal out…
(However if you DO want to make sure you’ve read the entire journey…here’s a fun reel that shows the progression!)

You can grab NORTH right now on the Susan May Warren store. (Or preorder on Amazon!)

In other news, this is how I’m feeling today…

This whole Alan Martin gig has been a MARATHON. And it’s been cold out in Florida (I know, whaa, whaa, cry me a river, it’s been in the high fifties.)
I have friends here this weekend from the Great White North, so it’s hanging out at the beach time, and maybe steak and wine for dinner.
I know I’ve mentioned this, but every morning I read a Psalm to start my day. I’ve done this for 30 years.
But just recently, I found a youtube channel that sings the psalms!

I love winding down to the praises of David. Try it—I’ll bet you sleep well!
Have a beautiful weekend. Go read something that lifts your heart!
Warmly,
