This is me after a weekend at the Faith, Hope & Love conference, where I taught, keynoted, and hung out with my favorite people. There’s something about a room full of writers chasing the stories God put in their hearts that fills me right up.
But now? I am oatmeal. Lukewarm, slightly lumpy oatmeal. It’s not pretty. I had fully planned to stay on this sofa until approximately Thanksgiving.
Except.
Today is release day!!
THE STORY BETWEEN US is here!
I wrote this one with my amazing daughter, Sarah May Warren. It’s sooo fun! It’s about the girl who got away… and what happens when she comes back with a second chance to write their story.
Here’s the scoop:
Best friend’s older brother. The summer that they both can’t forget. And one bestselling manuscript that’s years overdue.
Junior literary agent Livvie Fox has spent six fruitless years hoping to climb the ranks in New York publishing, watching senior agents take credit for the books she fought for. Then her agency drops the bomb: bestselling reclusive author Ian Rivers is two years past deadline. The contract is about to die. The agency could go down with it. Someone has to get him to write.
Someone like the woman who knew him before he was Ian Rivers.
Before the bestsellers. Before the loss of his writing partner, his sister Emma. And, before the night on a Maple Lake dock when Livvie told him exactly how she felt and he just stood there, frozen, while every star in northern Minnesota watched her heart break.
Nate Rivers’ career isn’t going to survive the crippling writer’s block after the loss of his sister. The last person he expects to see on his doorstep is the girl who got away. But here she is, Livvie Fox, back in Maple Lake. With stolen soup. And, with an offer to help him finish his book.
Here’s what I love about this story. We all have a “what if” somewhere. A door we didn’t knock on, words we didn’t say, a moment on a dock where we froze. And sometimes God, in His kindness, hands us the pen again. That’s Livvie and Nate. Two people who get a second chance to write the ending they missed the first time.
Grab a flannel, pour some cider, and fall in love with Maple Lake.
You can grab it right now on Amazon!
And now, if you’ll excuse me, the sofa is calling my name. It sounds a lot like “naaaap.”
Thank you for reading, for cheering, and for letting me write stories for you. You’re my people, too.
Hugs,
