Charlene at Quintessentially Quilly Baby It’s Cold Outside is going on my keeper shelf. I expect I will make a yearly pilgrimage to Frost, Minnesota and spend the 1949 Christmas holidays stranded in Dottie Morgan’s quaint Victorian house with her and her four reluctant visitors as they learn how powerful love and forgiveness can be.

Mocha with Linda What a fun book to curl up with on a cozy evening!

Holly at 2 Kids and Tired Books This book is a perfect way to start off the holiday season.

Leila at All Meant To Shine I really enjoyed this book!

Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer I can easily see this as a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie in the near future. It is a great read.

10/17

Mark at Thoughts of a Sojourner I am happy to report this book is curse-free, and is a great Christmas story. If I gave stars, I’d give 5 out of 5. Entertaining, and it does carry a great message.

Nise’ at Under the Boardwalk Whether she writes historical, contemporary, or suspense, Susan always delivers a great story. It was easy to care for these wounded characters and root for them to find forgiveness, redemption, and a second chance. Many tender moments that will require a kleenex or two. I will continue to reach for Susan’s books.

Renee at Black ‘n Gold Girl’s Book Spot I was glued to every word of this story. Warren has captured the spirit of Christmas while also keeping true to the feeling of loss and sadness that gripped the nation immediately following the World War II.

Margaret at Creative Madness Mama This is an absolutely gorgeous cover for a very meaningful read full of hope and second chances.

Ruth at Booktalk & More Oh how I adored this book. Baby, It’s Cold Outside is the perfect Christmas read, brimming with the warmth and nostalgia of the late 1940s, made all the richer by Warren’s trademark and skillful handling of emotional issues that cut to the core of what it means to be a believer in a fallen world.

Karla at Ramblin’ Roads I loved the characters and found their personalities and struggles completely believable.

Kari at Alas 3 Lads This is a great story; so heartwarming! I loved seeing how these four characters, bitter, angry, and lost in the beginning, helped one another face the truth of their situations and to begin to have hope for their futures. It’s a good clean read that’s full of love, romance, and redemption.

Amy at The 160 Acrewoods One of those stories that warms the heart and everything around you.

Tanya at In the Dailies It may have been seventy degrees outside, but you can bet I, vicariously trapped in the story, grabbed my fuzzy socks, made hot chocolate and asked my husband to start up the fire.

Kimberly at Living On Limited Income This book grabbed my attention on the first page with it’s brooding, yet lovable main character, Dottie Morgan. The author describes her with such descriptive words that you can almost picture her appearance and affect. The plot is so layered, interesting, and fast moving, that I just couldn’t put the book down! My only issue is that the book had to end!

Thou Art Jules Baby It’s Cold Outside is not your average Holiday love story! I was delighted to find an incredible cast of complex people with a riveting history and an even more exciting future! I found myself white knuckled on a few pages waiting to see what was going to happen when danger struck, I found myself strangely emotional as each character navigated their own personal demons. This is not a book about tinsel and bows but about human emotion, healing past and present hurts and learning the dangerous art of trust, communication and love.

Trish at In So Many Words I really enjoyed this book – I actually read it in one sitting!

Faith Hope & Cherry Tea The characters are as real as your neighbours with hopes and fears and dreams that resonate with your own.

Reviews By Molly Susan May Warren is back with another wonderfully written, deeply detailed novel! I highly recommend that you get a copy of this book, and be transported to a cold, winterized town in Minnesota, make some amazing new friends and fall in love with Susan May Warren’s work!

Kim at Window To My World

Kris at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers I got into this book right away. From the first chapter, it grabbed and held my attention – as in, I lost sleep over this book because I stayed up way too late reading.

Danielle at The Happy Wife This was another book that I struggled to put down, in fact, it only took me 2 days to finish it, because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.

Athena at Our Crazy Life Baby, It’s Cold Outside was a delightful story. As always, I enjoy Susan’s descriptive story telling, she makes you feel like you are really there – in the middle of the story. You can almost feel the cold from the blizzard and the warmth of the fire.

Splashes Of Joy With a cast of characters created so original and unique in this town of Frost, Minnesota, Susan gives us a wonderful story of dysfunctional people in this dysfunctional world with issues, imperfection and flaws that only God can intervene and change their lives for the better.

Krista at Welcome to Married Life This is one of those stories that just kind of drops a character in your lap and you find out the story from where they are with some comments and memories that help flesh out the story. I’m not always a fan of this device in storytelling, but with this story it works well. It adds to the mystery of the story and the storm.

Tina’s Book Reviews I loved LOVED this book- it’s a perfect Christmas read bursting with romance and tension while carrying a lovely nostalgic flavor of the 1940’s. I know Ive said this before about Susan Warren but the simple fact is- she has a fantastic gift that weaves a story to life on a page.

Janet at Along the Way For a cozy holiday tale, I highly recommend Baby, It’s Cold Outside .

Kaylea at My Scrappy Life This novel is an “easy read.” It flows off the pages like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s not heavy, but does pack a punch in that it will make you stop and think about the choices they made – and the outcomes which take place because of those choices.

Briana at I can’t decide The story was heart touching and finished with a happy ending which showed me it’s never too late to change your life or do what is right.

Lisa Jordan Baby, It’s Cold Outside has all the classic Susan May Warren elements–rich storyworld, three-dimensional characters that quickly become people you feel as if you’ve known them all your life, and a plot that keeps you turning the pages.

Deborah at Books, Movies and Chinese Food This was a really enjoyable read. It definitely got me in the mood for Christmas. I loved the historical aspect of the story. It was nostalgic but not cheesy or making it seem too perfect. The characters are flawed but they have good hearts. If you’re looking for a book to get in the holiday mood or just a cozy book to read near the fireplace, this is the story for you.

Freda’s Voice This story is a great way to warm up the holiday spirit. It’s a heartwarming story surrounding a small group that are trapped together through a storm. You really get to know people when enclosed in such surroundings, and that clearly came across in the book. Loved the bit of romance too. It was surprising and yet welcoming.

Lauri at Knits, Reads and Reviews This is a delightful book which is sure to send shivers down your spine as you read it!

Courtney’s Chitter Chatter There were so much emotions going on in this book that I felt like I was right there in the storm house with them grieving along with the sorrows and celebrating their growth! This was a real tear-jerker for me and my heart just went out to Dottie!

Jodie at Mom’s Pace I absolutely loved it as I read through tears til the end.

Rachelle at Land of My Sojourn I found it overflowing with all of my favorite themes: hope found in Jesus Christ, the need for real community in faith (knowing each other deeply and being our true self with others), how God’s never stops seeking us – revealing himself, how God meets us in our suffering, in our weakness, in our helplessness and how in Christ all things can be redeemed and made new.

Christine at The IE Mommy This is a heartwarming story of love and forgiveness just in time for the holiday season!

10/23

Marissa at The Review Stew This book would make a great present this holiday season for any book lover, especially a historical fiction lover!

Pattie at Fresh-Brewed Writer I know I’m inextricably wrapped up in the story of a novel when it’s tough for me to go to bed without finishing the book. That’s where I found myself the other night: up way too late, finishing the book!

Becky at Christian Chick’s Thoughts Baby, It’s Cold Outside may take place during the Christmas season, but its message—of honesty, forgiveness, and surrender to God—is applicable year round. And the characters, oh the characters! Susan May Warren is a master of character development. Wounded and bitter Dottie, stubborn and faithful Gordy, lonely and vulnerable Violet, kind and resourceful Jake, and imaginative and energetic Artie all jump off the page. When I finished the book, I felt like I knew these characters, and I was sorry to be leaving them behind.

Sharon’s Garden of Book I highly recommend this book!

Debra at Footprints in the Butter I opened the book, figuring I could read the first couple of chapters and then head to bed. I ought to know better. As always, Warren’s characters grab me from the opening pages. I was hooked, and stayed up until the book was finished.

Mary Ann at A Mom With A Blog Even though I didn’t live during this time period, Susan May Warren painted a picture so vivid that it felt like I had. I found myself longing for the comforts of Dottie’s home and the simplicity of the day, and I felt the hopes and heartaches of the characters.  A wonderful book, great for the holidays or any day. It will quickly become a favorite.

Lynetta at Open Book What a perfect book to get into the Christmas spirit!

Amber at Seasons of Humility Warren’s books thrive on emotional intensity, and Baby, It’s Cold Outside is further proof of her skill. Her characters are flawed and needy – just the kind of people who could use a Christmas miracle to shake their hearts out of a cold coma.

Michelle at Life in Review I very highly recommend this book. As always the writing is outstanding! Susan May Warren is one of the best Christian fiction writers and she writes such a variety of fiction. This particular story is a lovely historical story that makes a perfect Christmas season read. The characters are so realistic that they feel like people I knew, and they will stick with you long after you’ve finished the book. It’s a beautiful story and also filled with some great messages that easily relate to most of us today, even though it’s a historical story. I remain a huge Susan May Warren fan and I’m always excited any time she comes out with new work!

There were several twists and turns and I enjoyed the strong female roles portrayed.
